14. Harland Way - Wetherby to Spofforth Castle - 8 miles - approximately 1 .5hours. An excellent short strip for younger children passing through rural scenery with a generally good surface. This is part of a Sustrans route.
Park at the former Wetherby station site on the road out of Wetherby towards Sicklinghall/Linton - this is now a carpark and bottle bank. The route curves around the outskirts of Wetherby, crossing a housing estate at one point to meet the former connecting railway line from York. The path then proceeds passing fields on either side arriving at Spofforth in a short time.
Care is needed here as the path meets the main road. Proceed through Spofforth going striaght on where the main road bears right and the Castle is down a minor road on the left (free entry)
There are shop and pub facilities in Spofforth. Folifoot can be reached using minor roads.
